Sometimes it’s hard to find inspiration where you live. Other times it smacks you across the face. Still others result simply from being in the right place at the right time to capture important events. These images represent all of that. Though some may not be my finest, they certainly represent the area around Eau Claire.
Cadott Tornado - 2020 Easily my most significant image to date, this image of the tornado that hit Cadott, Wisconsin was shared and published by the National Weather service, and the tweet it was attached to was used by several media outlets, including Minnesota Public Radio.
Weathered Sands - 2019 Walking through LL Phillips Memorial Park, the patterns in the sand from the spring flood made for a wonderfully abstract image, with textures occasionally approaching weathered wood
2021 - Augusta firefighters work to save Tugger's Cafe. Though this business and building were a total loss, the hard work of the firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to buildings only separated by a 12" gap.
Phoenix Noir - 2019 A drizzly, foggy evening in Phoenix park delivered atmosphere galore, with the vintage style lights and fog creating a feel straight from the classic black & white Film Noir movies of the 30s and 40s. The only thing missing was Bogey.
Snowy Schoolhouse - 2020 I took a drive on the back roads west of Eau Claire during a rare mid-April snow storm and discovered this idyllic old schoolhouse that had been converted into a home.
Phoenix Summer Sunrise - 2020 It was a beautiful, predawn Saturday morning in Phoenix park, the vendors were just starting to set up for the farmer's market, and the flowers were in full bloom. I only took a few photos this morning and this was one of my favorites.
